Abuja Businesswoman Who Won Two Oil Blocks in December Now Wanted by EFCC

On Friday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, declared Abuja-based businesswoman Aisha Achimugu wanted.
Achimugu is wanted by the agency in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering, according to the EFCC.
The circular reads, “The public is hereby notified that Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering
“Achimugu, 51, is an indigene of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State and her last known address is 6C, Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja. Anybody with useful information as to her whereabouts should please contact the commission at its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644, its email address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest police station or other security agencies.”
The allegations come three months after Achimugu’s company, Oceangate Engineering Oil and Gas, was declared by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission as the preferred bidder for two oil blocks, PPL 302-DO and PPL 3007.
The company, which was one of the 19 firms that emerged winners in the 2024 Licensing Round, had announced in October that it had partnered with Global Petroleum Group to develop oil and gas reserves in the Caribbean island of Grenada.
Its CEO, Achimugu, was in the spotlight earlier last year when she celebrated her 50th birthday party in Grenada. The seven-day event was graced by many Nigerian personalities and public office holders, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Her late husband, Sulaiman Achimugu, was a former managing director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of NNPC. He passed on in 2020 after contracting coronavirus.
