Nigeria Borrows N14.6trn in One Year, Pushing Total Debt to Over N159trn
Nigeria’s public debt stock jumped by more than 10 percent in 2025, new official data released on Wednesday shows.
Figures from the Debt Management Office reveal that the government borrowed N14.61 trillion last year, bringing total public debt to N159.22 trillion as of December.
Domestic sources accounted for 53.27 percent of the debt, with external borrowings making up the rest.
