Flutterwave Enters Egypt to Tap $32bn Diaspora Remittance Market

Flutterwave, an African payments technology company, has announced the launch of its remittance product ‘Send App’ in Egypt to enable its citizens in the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, and other countries to send money home.

Citing data from the Central Bank of Egypt, the company said remittances from the Egyptian diaspora totalled an estimated $32.6 billion last year.

“Yet, many still rely on informal channels or outdated processes to move money across borders. Flutterwave’s Send App changes that, offering a simple, mobile-first experience that ensures funds arrive fast and are collected with ease,” it said in a statement on Thursday.

Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, founder and CEO of Flutterwave, said launching Send App in Egypt “is about more than just expanding our footprint”.

“It’s about empowering people and communities. We’re connecting Egyptians abroad with their families back home, supporting household needs, celebrating milestones, and helping build financial bridges. Our vision is to make Africa feel more connected by making money move faster. Egypt is a vital part of that mission, and we’re proud to contribute to its growth by enabling easier, safer remittances.”
