Rail freight gains steam as NRC’s Q1 revenue jumps 235%

The Nigeria Railway Corporation saw its revenue from cargo transportation surge more than threefold to N607.32 million in the first three months of this year, according to data released on Monday.

The NRC generated an additional N59.14 million from the movement of 8,000 tons of goods/cargo via pipeline in Q1.

The volume of goods/cargo transported via rail increased to 160,650 tons from 59,966 tons in Q1 2023.

The firm received N1.42 billion from 675,293 passengers compared to N768.44 million from 441,725 passengers in Q1 2023.
