Dangote Opens Largest Cement Plant Outside Nigeria in Côte d’Ivoire
Dangote Industries Limited has opened its second largest cement plant in Côte d’Ivoire, with a capacity of 3 million tonnes per year and an investment of over 150 billion FCFA.
“We are taking a new step in our commitment to Africa’s industrial development,” its president and chief executive Aliko Dangote said on Tuesday on LinkedIn. “I am proud to announce the opening of our largest cement plant outside Nigeria, located in Côte d’Ivoire, in the heart of the Attinguié industrial zone, near Abidjan.”
Africa’s richest man said the plant “represents much more than an industrial project: it promises sustainable economic opportunities for the region”.
He said that between 2,000 and 3,000 jobs will be created, generating a direct social impact while supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s economic diversification efforts.
“This strategic location reinforces our vision of regional self-sufficiency in cement by significantly reducing imports across West Africa,” Dangote said. “We remain committed to building a more autonomous, stronger, and more forward-looking continent.”
