NGX Taps WhatsApp for Public Offer Subscription Amid Dangote IPO
Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) has taken its digital capital-raising platform, NGX Invest, into one of the country’s most widely used messaging apps, launching a WhatsApp subscription channel that allows investors to participate in public offers without downloading any additional application.
The process begins with a single word. Investors send “Invest” to the official NGX Invest WhatsApp line, +234 812 731 9521, and are guided through prompts to view eligible offers and complete the required subscription steps. During the process, each investor selects a stockbroker through whom the application will be processed — a design choice that keeps brokers firmly embedded in the investment journey rather than bypassing them.
The WhatsApp channel is the latest addition to an already expansive distribution ecosystem. Through API connectivity, NGX Invest links issuers to investors across more than 100 distribution channels, spanning stockbrokers, banks, fintech platforms, mobile network operators and other financial institutions.
Its launch comes just over a week after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE opens its initial public offering, which will close on 13 October.
For issuers, the integration opens another route to a wider pool of potential subscribers and supports faster, more efficient capital raising. For investors, it removes a layer of friction by meeting them on a platform they already use daily.
The move forms part of NGX Group’s broader strategy of deploying technology, partnerships and open distribution infrastructure to deepen participation in Nigeria’s capital market.
Security sits at the centre of the new investor journey. While WhatsApp serves as the interface, all subscriptions are processed through NGX Invest’s secure, regulated infrastructure.
The Group has urged investors to interact only with the official NGX Invest WhatsApp number and to never share passwords, PINs, OTPs or other sensitive credentials with third parties.
As digital participation in the Nigerian capital market accelerates, NGX Group says its focus remains on ensuring that broader access is matched by secure, transparent and properly regulated market infrastructure — pairing the familiarity of a consumer messaging app with the safeguards required for regulated public offers.
NGX Invest is NGX Group’s SEC-approved e-offering platform for Public Offers, Rights Issues and Initial Public Offerings. Since launching in 2024, it has facilitated more than 23 primary-market transactions and supported over ₦3 trillion in capital raising.
With WhatsApp now part of its distribution ecosystem, the platform continues to widen the infrastructure through which investors discover and subscribe to primary-market opportunities — and through which issuers reach an ever-larger investing public.
