Three firms get licences to build oil refineries in Abia, Delta, Edo
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has given licences to three companies to build refineries in Edo, Delta and Abia states with a total capacity of 140,000 barrels per day (bpd).
The Authority Chief Executive, Farouk Ahmed, presented the licences to the companies on Friday, according to a statement.
Eghudu Refinery Ltd plans to construct a 100,000 bpd refinery in Edo; MB Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Ltd to build a 30,000bpd plant in Delta; and HIS Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd to establish a 10,000bpd facility in Abia.
“These licences, which would add 140,000 barrels per day to Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity, were presented to the MDs of the companies,” the NMDPRA said on social media platform X.
