Meet ex-ExxonMobil executive tapped as MD for Seplat’s new unit after $800m deal

Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU)  has been renamed Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU) following the completion of its acquisition by Seplat Energy that cost $800 million. 

Oladotun Isiaka has been appointed as the managing director of SEPNU. Prior to the appointment, he was the executive director and development manager for ExxonMobil Affiliates in Nigeria. 

He joined ExxonMobil in 1996 as a construction engineer and has held various leadership and managerial positions in Nigeria and the United States. 

In 2008, he was promoted from area operations manager at MPNU to operations superintendent at ExxonMobil Production Company, US.

After almost three years in the US, he became deputy operations manager for MPNU, a position he held for almost two and a half years before he was appointed as general manager, deepwater operations and joint interest at Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria Limited effective January 2014.

He was elevated to the post of general manager, Nigeria subsurface at MPNU in April 2017, and then executive director, development for ExxonMobil Companies in Nigeria two years later. In 2022, he became vice president of ExxonMobil Gas and Supply Nigeria Limited.

He started his career in 1990 as civil/structural engineer at Intecon Partnership, a Nigerian engineering firm, and was there for over five years. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from University of Lagos, a Masters Certificate from The George Washington University; and an MBA from University of Calabar.
