Nigeria’s telcos lose 6.8 million active voice subscribers in Q1

Telecommunications companies in Nigeria lost about 6.86 million active voice subscribers in the first three months of the year, compared to a year earlier, new official data shows.

The total number of active voice subscribers dropped to 219,304,281 from the 226,161,713 in Q1 2023, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. It fell by 2.41% compared to the previous quarter.

The number of active internet subscribers however rose to 164,368,292 from 157,551,104 in Q1 2023. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, it grew by 0.32%.
