[BREAKING] Tinubu agrees to increase proposed N60,000 minimum wage
President Bola Tinubu has agreed to increase the proposed new minimum wage of N60,000 after labour unions embarked on an indefinite strike on Monday.
The agreement was reached at a meeting on Monday night with the organised labour in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, according to a statement issued by the government.
The President “is committed to a national minimum wage that is higher than N60,000,” it said.
The labour unions undertook to convene a meeting of its organs immediately to consider the commitment. “No worker will be victimised as a result of the industrial action,” the statement said.
