Ex-MTN Nigeria CEO joins Unilever board

A former Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Mr Michael Ikpoki, has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of Unilever Nigeria Plc, with effect from Feb. 1, 2021 (today).

Unilever made the announcement on Monday in a statement signed by its General Counsel and Company Secretary, Mrs Abidemi Ademola.

“The Board warmly welcomes Mr Michael Ikpoki and wishes him success in his new role,” the company said.

According to the statement, Ikpoki has demonstrated proven capability in successfully managing and growing telecommunications operations in some of the largest economies in Africa during his tenures as CEO of MTN Ghana and CEO of MTN Nigeria respectively between 2011 and 2015.
